Education

To work as an accountant or auditor, you must:
  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • To work as a certified public accountant (CPA), you must:
  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Complete a five-year, 150 credit hour accounting program (awards a bachelor's or master's degree);
  • Public accounting experience
  • Pass the Uniform CPA Examination
  • Hours

  • May work over 50 hours per week, especially if self-employed.
  • May work long hours from January to April, if specializing in tax preparation.
  • May travel frequently to visit the offices of clients.
  • ACCOUNTANTS AND AUDITORS will:
  • Have good analytical and math skills
