High School Diploma

Years of experience as a fire fighter or have a degree in fire science.

Usually work 40 hours per week.

Generally work a set schedule. May be on-call to investigate suspicious fires.

FIRE INVESTIGATORS will:

Examine the cause of fires

Analyze evidence and prepare reports

Deal with external witnesses and suspects

FIRE INVESTIGATORS frequently:

Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

Stand for long periods of time.

It is important that FIRE INVESTIGATORS be able to:

See details of objects whether they are nearby or far away.

Speak clearly so listeners can understand.

Understand the speech of another person.

Make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.
