Education

  • High School Diploma or GED; and
  • On-the-job training, Apprenticeship, or Training Program.
  • Hours

    Work 40 hours per week.
  • May work evenings or weekends to meet deadlines.
  • May travel to job sites to take measurements or install items.
  • CABINETMAKERS will:
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Use power and hand tools
  • Build, finish, and install their piecesUse hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Bend or twist the body.
  • Repeat the same movements.
  • It is important that CABINETMAKERS be able to:
  • Use hands or fingers to grasp, move, or assemble objects.
  • React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
  • Make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.
  • See details of objects whether they are nearby or far away.
  • Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects.
  • Adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects.
  • Speak clearly so listeners can understand.
  • Focus on one source of sound and ignore others.
  • Understand the speech of another person.
  • Move arms and legs quickly.
  • Coordinate movement of several parts of the body, such as arms and legs, while the body is moving.
  • Choose quickly and correctly among various movements when responding to different signals.
  • Be physically active and use muscles for long periods without getting tired or out of breath.
  • Determine the distance between objects.
