To work as a dispatcher, you must:

complete a high school diploma or GED;

complete on-the-job training;

have good communications skills; and

work well under stress.

Generally work 40 hours per week.

May work evenings, weekends, and holidays, if working as an emergency vehicle dispatcher.

DISPATCHERS will:

Coordinate the movement of workers and motor vehicles

Some direct the activity of emergency vehicles

Use computers, phones, and two-way radios

DISPATCHERS frequently:

Sit for long periods of time.

Repeat the same movements.

Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

It is important that DISPATCHERS be able to:
