Education

  • Most electricians learn their skill through apprenticeship training programs. Apprenticeship programs consist of four years of on-the-job training. Paid for time spent on the job. In addition, each year you receive at least 144 hours of classroom training.

  • Usually work 40 hours per week/may work overtime to meet deadlines.
  • May work nights, weekends, and be on-call, if working as a maintenance electrician.
  • Frequently travel to new job sites, if working as a construction electrician.

  • React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
  • Choose quickly and correctly among various movements when responding to different signals.
