Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Complete a bachelor's degree in surveying or engineering or have many years of job experience as a survey technician.
  • Hours

  • Usually work 40 hours a week. They may work longer hours during the summer, when weather and light conditions are best for fieldwork.

  • May temporarily relocate near a survey site.
  • SURVEYORS will:
  • Determine official boundaries for land, air, and water
  • Often use Global Positioning Systems
  • SURVEYORS frequently:
  • Stand at survey sites.
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • It is important that SURVEYORS be able to:
  • See details of objects whether they are nearby or far away.
